Project
Datchet Water Sailing Club

Location
Queen Mother Reservoir, Berkshire

Datchet Water Sailing Club is a member’s club based at Queen Mother Reservoir in Berkshire for all dinghy classes, small keelboats and other waters-ports. The clubhouse needed a major refurbishment including a complete make-over of the changing rooms.

We also advised on alternative heating solutions and convinced the club membership to invest in renewable energy.

The initial feasibility looked at the full range of potential energy sources including aeolic, photo-voltaic (PV), solar thermal and heat pumps (ground, water and air based).

The final installation comprised:

• PV installation, 28KW with 200 panels.
• Water source heat pump, 25KW system using the heat sump from the reservoir.
• Air source heat pumps for smaller heating loads.

We developed the design for the changing rooms including toilets and showers. We also proposed some ideas for the joinery items such as the changing room racks.
