This house had a basement courtyard that was a bit of a dead space in front of the kitchen living room.

The brief was to infill the courtyard to create a wine cellar at basement level and extend the terrace and garden up to the kitchen windows.

It was quite a challenge to keep the existing ceiling heights and level thresholds, whilst dealing with structural requirements, insulation levels and appropriate drainage requirements.

The terrace is a clean and streamlined addition to this beautiful property and integrates successfully with the existing materials and style.

The wine cellar has a paired back materials palette using stained oak, copper and Terrazzo to create a luxurious space.
